Fundraising for an Earthship
O. s. Zeměloď is organising an international workshop with Michael Reynolds which enables participants to gain basic knowledge and experience in building Earthships and whose result would be the first demonstration Czech Earthship. It takes place under the auspices of US Embassy in Prague (PDF).
This workshop will take place from Monday 7th May to Friday 25th May not far from Prague. The participant list is already complete. We can add interested people to a list of substitutes and send them an application in the case some place gets free. The workshop fee is 6 000 CZK and will be fully used for this earthship workshop.
During the workshop also a documentary will be created.
The Earthship built during the workshop including the property will be owned by o. s. Zeměloď and will serve the public as a demonstration and training centre of radically sustainable living, which will be visited also by students and parents with their children. Visitors will be able to see the technologies used and experience the original earthship concept directly.
The property where the international workshop will be held has 23 500 m². Michael Reynolds visited this location during his stay in May and was so touched he chose it as an European Earthship Centre. He was so amazed that he decided to bring three experts at his own expenses.
The NGO o.s. Zeměloď (civic association Earthship) therefore wants to buy the property to establish there the first European Information and Education Earthship Centre and has the preemption.
The property will also be used for organic farming and breeding; Jirka Smítka already offered us a pair of goat kids.
This beautiful location is to the south of Prague. Michael Reynolds wished not to publish its exact location yet; anyway you can see some photos from the site (on the Photo page) and a video recording from Michael's visit to the site in May during his stay in the Czech Republic (on the Video page).
Many willing people from Bohemia and Moravia are already collecting recycled and new building materials. And last but not least funds for the first Earthship project in Central Europe are necessary too: for the workshop with M. Reynolds team and the Earthship project estimated costs of 2 mil. Kč.
Therefore we decided to raise funds. The funds will be used to finance the organisation of the workshop and building the first Earthship in the heart of Europe.
